Marcos Pontes is confirmed as Minister of Science and Technology
"I hereby inform that the lieutenant-colonel and astronaut Marcos Pontes, an engineer trained in the ITA, will be appointed to the Ministry of Science and Technology," commented the retired captain in his Twitter account. Pontes is 55 years old and comes from the city of Bauru, in the state of São Paulo. He was known all over Brazil, mainly for being the first Brazilian to go to space. Being part of a 10-day mission in 2006, promoted by NASA. Since then, he has devoted most of his career mainly to lecturing and consulting. In addition to Marcos Pontes, three other ministers were chosen by the reserve captain. They are: Paulo Guedes, Ministry of Economy, Onyx Lorenzoni, Civil House, and Augusto Heleno, Minister of Defense.
