Number of consumers who have paid off debts is the largest since 2015

Survey by the National Confederation of Shopkeepers (CNDL) and Credit Protection Service (SPC Brazil) reveals that the number of defaulters who paid their debts grew 4.93% in the accumulated in the last 12 months. The result recorded in August of this year is the most expressive since September 2015, when the index grew 5.8%. In the monthly comparison between August and July, the advance of the credit recovery was of 4.2%.
The data that make up the Credit Recovery Indicator indicate that the volume of debt settlement was more significant in the Central-West Region, with growth of 12.39%. Then comes the Southeast (8.31%) and Northeast (7.09%). In the North and South, however, the volume of delinquents that regularized the financial situation fell - the indexes were -10.38% and -3.10%, respectively. In the cut analyzed according to the age group, the majority of people who took out their debts are between 39 and 49 years old, representing 44% of the total. Then there are consumers who are over 65 (13%) and young people between 18 and 29 (12%). In the gender cut, women were the ones who put the most accounts up, totaling 52% against 48% of men.
According to the SPC, the increase in credit recovery in the country has been neutralized due to the entry of new debtors over the last months, due to the effects of the crisis and unemployment. For the SPC, the default in the country reaches the mark of 41% of the adult population of the country. The Credit Recovery Indicator shows the monthly evolution of the volume of debtors who left the register of defaulters based on the registration of exit of CPFs of the bases to which the SPC has access. The data are of national scope.
