Deposits in savings outpaced withdrawals of R$ 5.8 billion in August
The IPCA of August fell by 0.09%, below the result of July (0.33%), the IBGE reported on Thursday (6). The market was expecting stability over the previous month. It was the lowest rate for a month in August since 1998, when the index fell 0.51%.
Year-to-date was 2.85%, up from 1.62% in the same period of 2017. In the last twelve months, the rate increased 4.19%, down from 4.48% in the previous 12 months . In August 2017, the rate reached 0.19%.
Of the nine groups of products and services surveyed, Food and Beverages (-0.34%) and Transport (-1.22%) presented deflation from July to August. The others ranged from 0.03% in Communication and 0.56% in the Articles of Residence.
